SCRPM, formally known as ACRPM (Association of Clinical Research Professionals Malaysia) was founded by Dr Lim Teck Onn, former Director of CRC (Clinical Research Centre, Ministry of Health Malaysia) in 2007, ROS approval was obtained on the 7th Jan 2009. The Society was first started in 2009 during the 3rd NCCR in Penang with Dr. Ong Loke Meng as the Chairman

Ms Iris Tan  (email: iristan@myxmo.com.my, currently the CEO of MyXMO) elaborates on the benefits of membership soft launch and membership drive. Ms Iris Tan said the mission of ACRP is to provide global leadership to promote integrity and excellence for the clinical research profession. She said certification is the formal recognition of professional eligibility and ensures the highest quality and standards in clinical research. Certification is conducted by the Academy of Pharmaceutical Physicians and Investigators (APPI) and the Academy of Clinical Research Professionals (The Academy), both affiliated to the ACRP. 

ACRPM pro-tem president Dr Lim Teck Onn invite industry participation in human capacity development for the clinical research profession. He said the association is meant for all clinical research professionals in Malaysia and will give them a voice in shaping the industry and in contributing towards human capital development. In stressing the need for more certified clinical research professionals in Malaysia, Dr Lim said "The setting up of the Malaysian chapter showed commitment towards meeting industry needs. Availability of a large pool of well trained and experienced clinical research professionals could ultimately be the deciding factor in the positioning of Malaysia as a clinical trials hub in the region. The establishment of the Malaysian Chapter of ACRP was the obvious strategy in answering an urgent need.”

 

Past achievement of ACRPM co-organise the clinical research conference (CReaTE08) and conduct Good Clinical Practice (GCP) courses.
